The cost of lawn care can vary widely depending on a number of factors. For basic maintenance, many homeowners might pay anywhere from $30 to $80 per service visit, while full-service programs that include fertilization, weed control, and seasonal treatments could range from $90 to several hundred dollars per treatment.

Here are some of the key factors that influence the price:

  • Lawn Size: Larger areas require more time, effort, and materials, which can increase costs.
  • Service Frequency and Scope: More frequent visits or a broader range of services (such as fertilization, weed and pest control, aeration, and overseeding) will typically result in higher costs.
  • Lawn Condition: Lawns that need extra care—whether they’re recovering from stress or require special treatments—may incur additional expenses.
  • Regional Costs: Prices can vary based on local labor rates, fluxuations in the cost of materials, and regional conditions that might necessitate extra care.
  • Company Expertise and Equipment: Professional, licensed technicians using quality equipment and products might charge a little more, but they also provide reliable, tailored care that can enhance your lawn’s long-term health.

Ultimately, the best approach is to assess your specific needs and request detailed estimates from local providers to get a clear picture of what you can expect to invest in maintaining a beautiful, healthy lawn.

Cincinnati Lawn Care in March and April: Preparing Your Lawn for a Healthy Season

Early spring is a critical time for lawn care in Ohio. As the ground warms, your lawn emerges from dormancy, and this period marks the beginning of essential treatments and tasks that set the stage for a vibrant, healthy lawn this year.

Effective Early Weed Management

A key priority during early spring is the application of a crabgrass pre-emergent. This treatment forms a protective barrier at the soil surface that intercepts germinating crabgrass seeds, effectively preventing most of them from taking root. Timing is crucial—the product must be applied before soil temperatures reach about 55°F (typically mid-April, sometimes as early as March) to ensure optimal results. If applied too late, post-emergent measures would be necessary. In addition to crabgrass, we address broadleaf weeds and winter annuals at this time, often beginning treatments in mid- to late-March and continuing through late fall.

Enhancing Soil Health

At the heart of a flourishing lawn is healthy soil. Early spring is an excellent time to evaluate and improve your lawn’s soil quality. Healthy soil teems with beneficial microorganisms that enhance nutrient uptake and help protect your lawn against pests and diseases. Through proper fertilization and the addition of micro-biological additives, we ensure your lawn receives the vital nutrients it needs throughout the growing season.

Mowing Practices for a Robust Lawn

As your lawn begins to grow, establishing proper mowing habits is essential. We recommend maintaining a mowing height of at least 3.5 inches to help suppress weeds and prevent stress on the grass. Mowing too short can lead to yellowing and weaken your lawn over time. In addition, ensuring your mowing equipment is in good condition—with sharp blades and a level deck—reduces stress on your turf. Regular weekly mowing throughout the growing season, which typically concludes in mid- to late-fall, supports ongoing lawn health and appearance.

Our approach to Cincinnati, Ohio lawn care is designed with your lawn’s long-term well-being in mind. We’re here to ensure that every step of your lawn care routine—from early weed control to soil enhancement and everything in between—is handled with the utmost professionalism and care. If you have any questions or need personalized advice, we're here and ready to help.

For the past five years, we’ve been deeply immersed in studying lawn care—exploring products, testing application methods, and refining best practices. Brian's backyard has served as a half-acre testing ground, where we've put countless ideas to the test.

Because a beautiful lawn isn’t just about appearances—it’s about creating a safe, sustainable, and resilient outdoor space for the people (and pets!) who matter most.
