Acres of Green :: Tree & Shrub Program

Tree & Shrub Health Program

Protect the most valuable plants on your property with a season-long Tree & Shrub Health Program designed for Midwest and Cincinnati landscapes.

Your trees and shrubs take years to grow, shape the look of your home, and are often the most expensive plants in your yard — yet they are the most overlooked.

Our program provides consistent, expert care from March through October, with 6–7 visits per year, targeted to the seasonal needs of your landscape.

Why Tree & Shrub Care Matters

Cincinnati-area landscapes face challenges such as:

  • Humid summers that fuel fungal disease
  • Clay soils that restrict healthy root growth
  • Insects like aphids, mites, scale, Japanese beetles, and bagworms
  • Winter wind burn on evergreens

Without consistent monitoring and protection, even strong plants can decline over time. Our program keeps your landscape healthy, vibrant, and protected.

How the Program Works (Cincinnati Schedule)

Late Winter / Early Spring (March–April) – Dormant Oil Application
Targets and suffocates overwintering insects and eggs.
Common pests: mites, scale, aphids.

Spring (Late April–May) – Root Zone Fertilizer
Slow-release, nitrogen-focused feeding to boost root strength, early growth, and bloom quality.
Ideal time to correct soil deficiencies.

Late Spring (May–June) – Insect & Disease Control
Protects new foliage from active pests and spring fungal diseases like leaf spot, apple scab, and early mildew.
Targets bagworms, caterpillars, aphids, and more.

Early to Mid-Summer (July–August) – Insect & Disease Control (As Needed)
Addresses peak summer pests such as Japanese beetles, lace bugs, mites, and active bagworms.
Treatments are targeted based on monitoring to minimize pesticide use.

Early Fall (September) – Insect & Disease Control (If Needed)
Controls late-season pest activity and reduces stress before dormancy.

Late Fall (October–November) – Deep Root Fertilization
Replenishes nutrients used during the growing season and strengthens root systems for winter survival and strong spring growth.

Program Benefits

  • Season-long protection from insects, mites, and fungal diseases
  • Stronger root systems and improved nutrient uptake
  • Better overall plant vigor, color, and density
  • Reduced risk of plant loss and expensive replacements
  • Regular monitoring and professional recommendations
  • Clear, predictable schedule of care throughout the year

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need a separate Tree & Shrub Program?
Yes. Lawn fertilization does not protect your trees and shrubs. They require different nutrients and targeted insect/disease protection.

When will I see results?
You may notice richer color and fuller foliage in the first season. Root health and resilience build even more over multiple years.

Is this safe for pets and kids?
Once applications dry, normal activity can resume. We follow all label safety guidelines and communicate any special instructions.

What if I notice a problem between visits?
Just reach out. We’re happy to come take a look. Early detection is one of the biggest advantages of being on a program.
